Jillian Wolf, M.S.
My name is Jillian Wolf and I have a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology. I received my Bachelors degree in Psychology and Family Studies. I’ve lived in Nashville for several years and am proud to call it home.
My approach to counseling is client-centered in that I use different techniques for different clients, so the approach fits the person. Some people are more interested in changing their thinking, while others are more interested in changing their feelings/emotions or their behavior. Therapy is relieving at times and yet it can be uncomfortable at times. Making desired changes is relieving, but the process of change can be uncomfortable and requires hard work. Some issues are resolved relatively easily in a few sessions while other issues require many therapy sessions.
The first few therapy sessions allow me to learn about clients and their situation as well as for them to learn about my therapeutic style. Because it is important to me that clients feel comfortable working with me, at the end of each session I ask clients to communicate their feelings about that session, their progress in therapy, and any questions or concerns they have about their treatment.
My goals in therapy include helping clients improve their decision-making skills and cope more effectively with their anxiety, learning how to use their strengths more effectively, learning how to tolerate and become less limited by their weaknesses, and also learning how to deal with internal conflict. I often work with people who have anxiety, communication issues, social skills issues, and adult children who have difficulty communicating with their parents. The majority of my patients are adolescents and adults.
I generally have daytime sessions, Monday-Friday, and my sessions are 50 minutes in length. I have limited openings for clients after 5 p.m. Payment is expected at the time of service. At this time, I do not accept insurance so my practice is entirely self-pay. I do have a sliding fee scale for clients who are unable to pay full price; however, the number of sliding scale openings is limited.
If you have any questions, I would be happy to talk to you. There is no charge for a consultation call for you to get the information you need to decide if you want to begin the therapeutic process with me. Telephone calls during the process of therapy that last over 10 minutes are billed at my usual rate. Please call 615-298-2329 to request information or to schedule an appointment with me.
